Deborah is a former McKinsey consultant whose experience at the firm spanned more than a decade. She began her career as a Business Analyst in McKinsey & Company’s Chicago office, then left to gain additional operational experience and pursue an MBA before returning to consulting in 2006. As a top-rated Associate and Engagement Manager, Deborah managed a wide range of engagements across the globe and co-led McKinsey’s recruiting efforts at Northwestern. From 2011-2014, Deborah oversaw staffing, training, people initiatives, and outplacement for over 400 consultants as the Director of Professional Development for McKinsey’s Midwest offices. With years of firsthand experience interviewing candidates, participating in final round offer decision meetings, and shaping recruiting strategy and tactics for McKinsey and other companies, Deborah has a deep, insider perspective on what companies are looking for and what differentiates top candidates.
Deborah’s passion is helping individuals make successful career transitions. Now an independent consultant and coach, she facilitates training for new managers, gives presentations at top universities, and works closely with executives to transform their teams and organizations. Her approach to coaching is highly individualized and pragmatic, with a focus on tactical advice to improve case interview performance and effectiveness in communicating your ideas and personal narrative.
Deborah graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. In addition to her experience in professional services, Deborah has worked in multiple Fortune 500 CPG companies and in an operations role at a private equity backed food company. She has been helping MBA students, undergraduates, PhDs, and experienced professionals prepare for interviews for over 15 years, and is thrilled to bring her experience and expertise to the Zintervu team and clients.
